You know how we love all things burger here at Annie’s? Well it’s led to us finding out some pretty darn interesting burger facts we thought we’d share with you…
1) Did you know that some sources suggest that during World War 1, the United States Government tried to rename hamburgers as “liberty sandwiches” or “liberty steaks” to promote patriotism which is quite astounding – not sure we’d be able to call ourselves Annie’s Liberty Sandwich Shack… it’s a bit of a tongue twister!
2) How big was the biggest Hamburger? Well, it was a giant. In 1982, 10,000 people came to taste the largest Hamburger ever built, the burger weighed a staggering 3,591 pounds. Now I know people saying our burgers are filling but that’s just crazy!
3) Many US cities claim to have invented the burger but it is widely believed that it was invented in 1900 in New Haven, Connecticut. Connecticut is the southernmost state in New England region – the very place where Annie herself was born!
4) Staggeringly, one of the most expensive burger to be ever sold cost $5,000 and was FleurBurger5000. That thing was made of black truffles, foie gras and Kobe beef. The burger was served along with Chateau Petrus, 1990 bottle. It was sold in Las Vegas’ Fleur de Lys. That’s why we always tell people what great value our burgers are!
